This Audi A5 V6 came to me with a persistent coolant loss that had proved difficult to trace.
Coolant leaks aren’t always obvious, and in this case there were no clear external signs of where the coolant was escaping. After carrying out a thorough diagnostic inspection, I suspected the leak was hidden beneath the inlet manifold.
Once the inlet manifold was removed, the cause became clear—a heavily leaking oil cooler, which was allowing coolant to escape from an area that couldn’t be seen during a standard inspection.

- In-depth cooling system diagnosis
- Inlet manifold removed for further investigation
- Faulty oil cooler replaced
- New coolant flanges fitted
- Cooling system refilled and professionally bled
- Final pressure and operational checks completed to confirm the leak had been eliminated
This is another great example of why accurate diagnosis is so important. Hidden coolant leaks can be time-consuming to locate, but finding the root cause prevents repeat repairs and protects the engine from serious overheating damage.
